I am a licensed professional counselor, LPC-MHSP. I received my Ph.D. in clinical counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2014, my Master's in counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009, and Bachelor's in psychology from Liberty University in 2007.
I did my internship at The Refuge Center for Counseling in Cool Springs, have worked at community mental health centers in both Murfreesboro and Franklin, and have worked at Kairos Counseling Center, Bethany Christian Services, Children's Advocacy Center, and The Exchange Club. In these centers I practiced individual therapy, group therapy, parenting counseling and coaching, and created and implemented curriculum for an intensive outpatient program for adolescents with substance abuse and mental health issues.
I received specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), children with sexual behavior problems, children and adolescents with dissociative disorders, trauma-focused CBT, and motivational interviewing.
I am a clinical member of TLPCA and presented in Nashville at the 2012 annual Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor Association (TLPCA) conference on sex trafficking and counseling. I also presented at the TLPCA conference in 2016 on psychogenic non epileptic seizures (PNES). I am a clinical member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).
I have been on the board of, and helped establish, a nonprofit for sex trafficking survivors in India. Specifically, creating a trauma counseling curriculum for use in the rehabilitation home for survivors of sex trafficking. I conducted my dissertation study with survivors of sex trafficking in the U.S., which was completed in 2014.
A piece I wrote on sexual assault was published in a textbook: Crisis Assessment, Intervention, and Prevention (2nd Edition) page 209.
I share some of these things so that you are aware of my highly varied experiences in the field with plenty of different people in both very normal and extremely unusual situations. I welcome all people into my office.
